We exist to provide intentional one to one care through Christlike compassion.

One-to-One is an intentional care ministry modeled after Stephen’s Ministry and facilitated by trained, caring, volunteers who have responded to Christ’s call to “carry each others’ burdens”.

What is a One to One Care Giver?

One to One Care Givers are—Christian men and women—trained to provide one-to-one care to people experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, relocation, separation due to military deployment, or empty nesters.
Care Givers come from all walks of life. Their commonality? A passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need.

A Care Giver begins a caring relationship when he or she is matched with a person experiencing a life crisis. The Care Giver then meets with that person on a weekly basis to listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support. The caring relationship lasts as long as the person is in need of care.

What is a One to One Care Receiver?

Care Receivers are people—church family members and others in the community—who receive care from a One-to-One Care Giver. These are people struggling through a difficult time in life—experiencing grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or some other life crisis.

Some important guidelines for this caring relationship protect both the care receiver and the Care Giver:
  • The relationship between a care receiver and a Care Giver is confidential.
  • Men are matched with men; women with women.
  • When a care receiver’s needs exceed what a Care Giver can provide, the One to One team makes a referral to an appropriate mental health professional or other community resource.
A One-to-One Care Giver is a member of the Heartland community and Christ-follower who has been through 50 hours of training in how to provide compassionate care.
